ECO FRIENDLY BEER BOTTLES
As the fee or Pfand on the bottles is too low , hardly anyone returns it back to the Breweries. This makes the small manufacturers buy new bottles all the time. So the Environmental Agency Supports the Idea of increasing the price of beer bottles and crates in order to be more Eco Friendly. If the bottles are refilled as many times as possible, then it can be a role model for Waste Prevention and Eco friendly.
TOO LOW PRICED TO BE VALUED
The Pfand has not been increased significantly in last 40 Years. Pfand of 8 Cents for beer bottles and 1.5 Euros for Beer crates is too low. As it not worthed for many, they throw the bottle on the streets or break it for fun . So the Federal Association of Private Breweries of Bavaria demands to have 30 cents on all types of bottles. It sounds unrealistic to many but the purpose is clear to all. The Brewery Association suggests to have uniform Pfand or Depost of 15 Cents per bottle and flip top bottles to 25 cents. The Environmental Spokeswoman of Greens in Bundestag Bettina Hoffman also that this should be taken seriously by the Government.
The 40 Private Breweries of Free State of Bavaria wants to increase the Pfand of Empty Beer Crates to 6 Euros by March 2020. There are around 800 private breweries all around Germany and they might follow suit to increase Pfand. It is high time that government takes note of this problem and increase it uniformly to be more Eco Friendly.
